Self-Verification
All Shering Engineers have been approved as self-verifiers. This allows them to carry out the function of verifying a weighbridge for trade use in place of the Trading Standards Officer and therefore speeds up the process. A strict management system is in operation to ensure these activities comply with the regulations governing approval.
Instruction
All field staff operate to Work Instructions and Process Procedures in compliance with our ISO 9001 quality system and Self-Verification Approvals.
Safe systems of work are in force for Confined Spaces Entry, Electrical Inspection & Testing and Lifting Accessories Inspection. Generic and Task specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments have also been prepared.
Personal Protective Equipment
In order to assist in reducing injuries & controlling health hazards all engineers are supplied with the following equipment to be worn as appropriate for the task: safety footwear (boots & wellington's), hard hat, overalls, oilskins, gloves body-warmer, high visual jacket & waistcoat, goggles, dust masks, ear defenders and rubber knee pads.
Tooling
All tools and lifting gear used are deemed fit for purpose and are maintained in a safe condition. They are regularly examined for deterioration and safe operation and Test Certificates are held by the engineers for inspection on site.

Gas Monitor - as required by confined spaces legislation
HSE
In today's environment it is essential that sub-contractors are competent to carry out their duties and safety can never be undervalued. As a company we do not just pay lip service to the masses of legislation, we actively encourage early implementation whilst adopting best practice. We have policies and safe systems of work in place, risk assessments have been carried out as required and the necessary control measures implemented. Method statements are also supplied in accordance with CDM requirements.
Having a qualified Appointed Person, Shering can offer competitive prices to organise lifting operations in compliance with the Lifting Operations and Work equipment regulations and CPA requirements.
In House Capability
As Shering design and manufacture the majority of their product range it goes without saying that our in-house technical capability is second to none. Our expertise covers a host of technical disciplines that provides immeasurable support benefits to our service engineers and our customers. The team includes specialists in weighing metrology, micro-electronic instrumentation, load cells and applications, mechanical design, software and systems hardware.
