Calibration Unit

Weighing equipment is governed by very tight trading standards legislation. This means that all weighbridges and platform scales in trade use must be calibrated and stamped either by a trading standards officer or an approved self-verifier. Calibration and verification must be carried out on installation of the weighing equipment and after some types of repair. Failure to do so could result in the equipment operating illegally, so risking possible penalties for those concerned.

Shering calibration unitShering operate modern mobile calibration units, so allowing us to provide a flexible response to all your needs for testing and calibration of weighing equipment. All our engineers are approved self-verifiers, ensuring a completely professional, thorough and efficient service. A Shering calibration unit comprises a Mercedes-Benz articulated lorry carrying 23 tonnes of test weights, traceable to National Standard. It also carries a forklift truck and smaller weights so we can normally test and calibrate any weighing equipment without having to use customers' time or equipment.

We will do the same whenever we need to carry out any maintenance that requires re-calibration.

As well as their use with Shering weighing equipment our calibration units are available for hire, by the day or half-day, for use with non-Shering weighing equipment. For details please contact the Shering Test Unit on 01383 621505 or by e-mail.
